About Emmanuel Akoh

Emmanuel Akoh was born on July 24, 1979, and from the very beginning, he shared a special bond with his mother, Mama Violet Akoh. Having spent a full 12 months in her womb, Emma’s birth created a deep connection between them. As he grew, Emma became a tall and strong young man. He initially followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the Nigerian Army after graduating from the Nigerian Military School. However, his passion for learning led him to pursue further education. He studied at Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria (Bachelors), Rhodes University in South Africa (MBA), and earned a Ph.D. from the Durban University of Technology in 2023.

Emma was not only intelligent but also deeply devoted to his family. He cherished his wife, Eldinah (Dee), whom he met at Rhodes University. Their journey together began in 2013 and on July 30, 2016, they were married in Pretoria. Mama Violet affectionately called him “Oyibinga,” an Idoma name meaning “the child who brought me here,” symbolizing the long journey she took to attend their wedding. This name reflected the deep love and connection she felt for Emma and Dee.

Emma was the fourth of five children born to Lawrence and Violet Akoh. As the second last child, he had to develop his own character and strength. Emma was very resilient, going through the motions of life quietly but surely. On August 7, 2024, Emma went to be with the Lord, just days after turning 45 and 8 years after their marriage. He was a gentle giant, calm and composed, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness. Though Emma is deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Emmanuel Akoh was a cherished individual known for his unwavering love and dedication as a brother, husband, son, uncle and friend. His life was marked by his generosity, compassion, and the profound impact he had on everyone he met. This website is dedicated to celebrating his memory and the indelible mark he left on our lives.
